It started with a single goal. Deliver on time, every time, with the least amount of headaches.

What followed was an incredible two decades of domestic Canadian growth as FLS carved out a name for itself. From 1987 through the turn of the century, FLS went from a handful of dedicated employees to hundreds of committed and experienced professionals. By 2001, we ranked as the largest freight brokerage firm in Canada.

And this was just the beginning…

The U.S.expansion

Lead by customer demand FLS entered the highly-competitive US market with an office in Chicago.

As we expanded the service area and forged relationships with new carriers, this brought a new level of value to our customers.

Not only were we the best broker for cross-border freight, we were quickly becoming experts in the US market as our experience, lane history and carrier network continued to grow.

These early milestones were stepping stones for bigger things…

The $300M milestone

Since entering the U.S. market in 2005, we achieved compound sales growth of 30% year over year, and compound profit growth of 28% per year.

We opened offices in Springfield, Salt Lake City and Atlanta to keep up with the growing demand from shippers.

And we hit a huge $300 million revenue milestone.

Our explosive growth attracted attention…

The equity infusion

Our success generated interest from private equity firms looking to acquire a 3PL that showed massive potential for growth.

Enter ABRY Partners, a Boston based private equity firm.

ABRY purchased FLS from the original owners and infused the company with capital to accelerate our growth.

Today, FLS is one of the largest companies in the North American freight business.

We’re recognized as #23 on Transport Topics index of Top 3PLs. Our 17 offices with 400+ employees connect North America. And we boast a network of over 54,000 carriers and 400,000 trucks.

Our growth hasn’t stopped.

Scott Logistics, a Georgia-based freight broker, joined the FLS family in 2019. Their robust carrier and shipper network significantly increases FLS’s scale and coverage in the highly fragmented US market.
