DIESEL PRICE UPDATE | Have diesel prices reached an all-time high?
The climb might not be over as the Department of Energy/ Energy Information Administration benchmark diesel price hits an all-time high.
Increasing by 34.9 cents a gallon, the average weekly retail price rose to $5.509 a gallon.
In addition to the increase in diesel prices, there have been changes to contract rates for ultra-low sulfur diesel.

SPEED LIMITERS | Could speed limiters be required for every motor carrier?
The FMCSA has started a fact-finding and data-mining mission for their recent rulemaking for carrier-based speed limiters.
The regulations seem to have support from many different transportation organizations.
Learn more about the proposed regulations here.
ALTERNATIVE SHIPPING MODES | Could intermodal transportation be the solution to rein in costs?
With gas prices on fire and costs going through the roof, shippers look for ways to rein in expenses.
One would think shipping via intermodal would be a logical substitute, but that has not proven to be the case.
The Intermodal Association of North America recently published updated data on intermodal volumes, which can be found here.
“IT’S A MESS!” | Lockdowns are causing anxiety for global supply chain carriers.
As covid lockdowns persist in China, sources say carrier vessel schedules are a “total mess.”
The lockdowns give US ports a little breathing room to move cargo, but there are fears that there will be an influx once operations in China resume to 100%.
Voyages and routes are being canceled and re-routed in the meantime.
